Alvarez has experienced impressive international growth recently, with 14 new distributors in 22 countries now carrying the guitars.
“The response to the new line has been overwhelming,” says Chris Meikle, SLM Senior VP and Alvarez Brand Director. “Although we were very happy with the product, we couldn’t have imagined the amount of dealer’s that have supported the brand this quickly.”
SLM launched the new Alvarez line in the USA in 2011 after taking exclusive control of the brand. Then 12 months of investment and R&D ensued before launching the majority of new product at this year’s Winter NAMM Show. More newly designed instruments including the all-new Yairi models will launch in January 2013.
Growth in North America is strong too: Over 500 dealers have signed up in the U.S. alone since January 2011.
“We’d intended to focus on international markets in 2013 but due to demand we brought that forward 12 months,” Meikle says. “Our extended family of international distributors are doing a great job and we’ve teamed up with some fantastic people around the world including D’Addario Australia, Go To Guitars in the UK, Ivan Music in China, Gold Music in Italy, and many more.”
