ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – After a soft launch early this year, Alvarez has made further improvements to their all-solid wood Masterworks line. A newly specked MDA70 was introduced at this month’s Summer NAMM show that captured players with its brilliant sound and exceptional construction.
“I feel as though this guitar is the culmination of all the design we’ve done over the past 3 years,” Says Chris Meikle, Senior VP at St. Louis Music and head of Alvarez development. “We recently gave the MDA70 a tweaked FST2 bracing system which absolutely sings because it’s pinned with the solid back and sides. It’s a very powerful and articulate instrument.”
The design team also refined the guitar’s finish. It’s thinner, which allows the instrument to resonate and respond quicker, yet it still has a deep shine that really makes the guitar stand out. The MDA70 also features a solid “AA” grade Sitka spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, 1.5mm abalone purfling, flame maple binding, a bi-level polished rosewood bridge and premium tuners and ebony bridge pins.
Meikle continues, “If someone wants everything from a guitar at an affordable price, the MDA70 is a perfect option.” At a street price of $899 and shipping with a deluxe polyfoam case, the MDA70 offers guitarists a professional instrument with crafted tone rarely accessible at this price point.
