ST. LOUIS, MO: Dixon Drums and Hardware is proud to announce the addition of Los Angeles based, GRAMMY Award-winning recording and touring drummer Gregg Bissonette to its Artist Program. Bissonette’s choice of Dixon comes from their synergetic vision to advance the art of drumming through quality craftsmanship, innovation and education. He will be involved with Dixon on a broad spectrum of levels, serving as artist, clinician, ambassador, and product consultant beginning with the development of an Artisan Series Gregg Bissonette Signature drum set this fall.
Known as one of the world’s most versatile drummers, Gregg Bissonette comes from a musical family and holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from North Texas State University. Upon moving to Los Angeles after college, he quickly landed top gigs ranging from Maynard Ferguson to David Lee Roth, ELO, Toto, James Taylor and Santana to name a few.
This June, Bissonette returns as a member of Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band, a dream-come-true gig he has been honored to be a part of since 2008. Gregg was a member of Ringo and the Roundheads from 2003 to 2005. When he’s not touring with Ringo, Gregg is an in-demand recording session drummer, playing on albums, motion picture soundtracks and TV shows. He is also very involved in educating and inspiring drummers across the globe through his Gregg Bissonette Drum School at DrumChannel.com, his clinic tours and the annual Gregg Bissonette Grove Camp.
Gregg Bissonette’s background ranges from big band, blues and rock, to Latin, fusion and much more. He has played with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Ringo Starr, Santana, James Taylor, David Lee Roth, Toto, Linda Ronstadt, Andrea Bocelli, Brian Wilson, Smash Mouth, the Doobie Brothers, Ozzy Osbourne, the Brian Setzer Band, Enrique Iglesias and Britain’s loudest band, Spinal Tap. He has played on scores for TV (NBC’s hit show Friends) and film including Best in Show, The Devil Wears Prada, American Pie, The Bucket List, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Enchanted, Waiting for Guffman, The Mighty Wind and the Academy Award-Winning song Man or Muppet from the film The Muppets. Gregg recently released his third solo album, Warning Will Robinson, which features brother Matt Bissonette on bass and backing vocals and includes a CD with play-along tracks minus drums.
“Gregg Bissonette fits Dixon’s vision and values like a glove,” said Jim Uding, Dixon Brand Manager. “Gregg represents what drumming is all about and has something to offer anyone who picks up a pair of drumsticks. Gregg Bissonette is not only great for Dixon, he’s good for drumming in general.”
“I’ve always had a great passion for drum gear and a fascination with the history of drums and drumming,” says Bissonette. “I’m always eager to learn more about musical drumming and drum set vocabulary. I love the way drumming history and new vocabulary affects me as a player. With Dixon, I can contribute my experience as a whole to the growth and development of a brand committed to quality, sound and the art of drumming.”
