Gregg is well known in the music industry for being among the finest examples of a professional musician, an effective educator and inspiring artist. His fans and peers have recognized Gregg many times in Readers Polls by major publications like Modern Drummer and DRUM! Magazines including the 2015 Modern Drummer poll in the category of #1 Best Studio Drummer.
Gregg currently holds his dream gig as a member of Ringo Starr’s All Starr band. A lifelong fan of Ringo since his father took him to see The Beatles in 1966, he now gets to play alongside one of the architects of Rock ‘n’ Roll. But going from one dream gig to another has been the story of Gregg’s career for over 3 decades, starting with trumpet great Maynard Ferguson’s Big Band back in 1982.
His breakout gig with David Lee Roth and the album Eat ’em & Smile made a star of Gregg, along with bandmates Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai. Gregg has also played with Joe Satriani, Toto and Steve Lukather, Don Henley, Santana, Jeff Lynne and ELO, Spinal Tap, Andy Summers, Jann Arden, Lou Rawls, Ray Charles, Duran Duran, Frank Gambale, and many projects with his bassist/producer brother Matt. He has recorded dozens of soundtracks for TV and Film and released 3 solo albums: Self Titled in 1998, Submarine in 2000 and Warning Will Robinson in 2013, which includes a minus drums CD for drummers to play along. His educational projects include 2 instructional DVDs, regular appearances on DrumChannel.com, his own intensive drum camp, and many highly in-demand clinics the world over.
