One of the reasons the St. Louis Music Sales Team is so dedicated to great products and service is because they’re often musicians themselves or have a deep passion for music and education. In our “Meet Your SLM Sales Team” series, we’ll be giving you a glimpse at why our colleagues are so driven by music, and what inspires them. For November, 2017, we’re honored to introduce you to Katie Lindhorst…
Where are you from? Where did you study?
A: I’m from St. Louis, MO and I studied at Mizzou for psychology and design.
Are you musical? If so, what do you play and with what bands?
A: Yes I am. I play synthesizer and percussion. I play in St. Louis pop outfit Middle Class Fashion. And a rock group called Á Bientôt.
Please describe your career path before SLM, ie. companies you have worked for, mentors you may have had, any sideways paths you may have taken….
A: My big start in the work force was with Starbucks. My first boss Tina Heimos was a great mentor for customer service, and diligence.
How did you first connect with the SLM Team?
A: MY FAVORITE QUESTION! My connections with SLM are Matt Picker, and Seth Porter. Back in 2013 their all-star group The Blind Eyes asked my band Middle Class Fashion to form a NYE super group. We rehearsed for several months, and became friends (in truth I was new to my band and intimidated by all of these fabulous musicians!). As midnight on Jan 1, 2014 came to pass I sang “Love is a Battlefield” while Seth Porter wailed on guitar! So much fun, one of my favorite memories of all time. Years later while managing the Ellisville location of local retailer Mozingo Music, Matt and I connected about SLM, and how great it was. (after looking at Instrgram posts about eating donuts every day and skateboarding around the office, who wouldn’t be curious about where this guy worked! Ha!) The rest is history! So glad to be a part of this family, and surrounded by even more friends.
What do you do that inspires you outside of work?
A: Outside of work I find inspiration in design work, and recording music.
