ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI –SLM is thrilled to announce the purchase of Compass Ligatures, a revolutionary ligature system that can be applied across all types of saxophone and clarinet. Previously brought to market by Claude Lakey, SLM will now be the exclusive owner and distributor of Compass Ligatures worldwide.
Mark Ragin, CEO of St. Louis Music, comments, “The Compass Ligature is a great example of innovative and unique products that enhance consumer experience, which is exactly the product we are looking to work with. We had a great relationship with the previous sellers and also with the inventor, and saw a great opportunity to grow our accessories when we heard he was looking for a partner.”
Inventor John Morrison worked with a renowned manufacturer in the sports and medical industry, BOA Technology, to design the Compass ligature, which features an innovative reel-based adjustment knob to secure the reed to an instrument quickly and without fine tuning. This design also enabled more pressure around the mouthpiece compared to traditional ligatures, and increased volume by 30%.
In addition to its universal fit across saxophones and clarinets, the Compass Ligature is made with aircraft grade steel lace and includes alto, tenor and soprano caps. The Compass Ligature is in stock now at SLM.
